Newmarket Skating Club – Seminar on Friday, August 25

2:00-5:00 pm

Open to all skaters…if you are not registered in our summer full day camp this week, the cost is $25!

Creative movement: A seminar for figure skaters

Created by: Maxime Nadeau and Andrew Wiseman

A message from the presenters:

We’ve developed a seminar to help skaters perform at their best, using expression and dance as an integral part of their training.

Within our ISU judging system, it is ever more important to ensure each skater has strong basic skating skills, as well as strong performance skills.

The Program Component score has often been the determining factor in competition when the Technical Scores are close.

From experience over the last 5 years, this kind of training has enabled skaters to reach the podium at several competitions including at the Skate Ontario STARSkate Championships in Ontario, Canada and the South Islands Championships in New Zealand.

Our focus with this seminar is to help skaters feel comfortable expressing themselves on the ice, using outside influences, such a music videos, dance videos and essentially anything they can find on the internet or elsewhere.

They learn how to incorporate those outside influences in their skating performances.

With an emphasis on strong basic skating skills, we transform what we see in our everyday lives into a performance that makes that ‘rocker turn’ completely effortless and captivating to watch.

DO NOT MISS OUT!
