Margaret Purdy, 16, from Strathroy, Ont., and Michael Marinaro, 19, of Sarnia, Ont., won the bronze medal at the first ISU Junior Grand Prix event of the season in Riga, Latvia. They earned 43.95 in their short program and were in fourth place heading into today’s free program. They earned 90.51 in the free, giving them 134.46 points overall and moving them up to third position.

This was the first of seven Junior Grand Prix events to take place this fall. Competitors earn points for their placements while attempting to qualify for the ISU Junior Grand Prix Final, which will take place in Quebec City in December.
